Here is another character from my first unwritten novel, 'Redemption - The Ideal Life'.
Gunner is the The General’s friend and drinking buddy who outed Michael as a snitch to the General. The life and soul of any gathering, The Gunner is a gentle giant who is extremely witty and entertaining. He is a minefield of information both useful and useless. He is extremely dark, overweight but with a stoic built. He is deceptively charming and very charismatic. In contrast, he is shy around women and is easily played by them.
Gunner is The General’s friend and also the cousin of The General’s arch nemesis Joseph Sesay. He succeeds to maintain very good relationships with both parties and is sometimes in place to diffuse awkward situations between the two men. Even though he loves a gossip, he is not malicious and always craves a peaceful atmosphere. His favourite saying is ‘If anything were to happy to me now, I’ll be content in the knowledge that I’ve lived!
Michael betrayed The General’s trust by leaking very sensitive information to Joseph about him and Gunner got wind of it. He unwittingly told The General, who was furious with Michael and ultimately resulted in ‘The General’ reneging on a business arrangement with Michael.
The Gunner got his name because he is an avid Arsenal fan. His story starts with him trying to establish his communication business with little success. The lack of success is surprising to observers as The Gunner is known to have powerful friends in high places. However, his genial and laid back streak tends to hold him back. His friends consider him the ultimate drinking buddy but do not rate him highly in business terms.
He needed his business to get off the ground and quickly as his partner who lives in Europe wants to return to Sierra Leone where they can set up home together and ultimately get married. Although he loves her very much, he’s uncomfortable as he doesn’t believe he’s financially sound currently to be able to cope with the demands of having a partner. He is concerned that if she returns home before his business is up and running he may lose her to other more wealthy men.
